Bad Omens is an American metalcore band from Richmond, Virginia, formed in 2015. The group was founded by vocalist Noah Sebastian, formerly of Immortalize, and later expanded to include Nicholas Ruffilo, Vincent Riquier, Joakim “Jolly” Karlsson, and Nick Folio.
The idea for the band began in 2013 when Sebastian started writing lyrics and planning a new musical direction. After leaving his previous band, he formed Bad Omens in 2015, and early demo recordings quickly attracted the attention of Sumerian Records.
Their self-titled debut album Bad Omens was released in 2016 and received critical acclaim, marking the beginning of their rise in the international metal scene. Their second album, Finding God Before God Finds Me (2019), further increased their recognition, with singles charting on Billboard’s rock charts.
The band’s third album, The Death of Peace of Mind (2022), showcased a significant evolution in their sound, incorporating electronic and pop elements while maintaining their metalcore foundation. Their lyrics often explore themes such as mental health, addiction, and emotional relationships, resonating strongly with listeners.
Known for their genre-blending approach, Bad Omens combines metal, alternative rock, industrial, and electronic influences, allowing them to reach a broader audience.
In recent years, they have continued releasing new material, including singles like “Specter,” “Impose,” and “Dying to Love” (2025), alongside extensive touring.
Today, Bad Omens is regarded as one of the leading acts in modern metalcore, recognized for their evolving sound, atmospheric style, and ability to merge heaviness with melody.
