Artan Lili is a Serbian alternative rock band formed in Belgrade in 2013. The group originally started as an experimental trio consisting of Bojan Slačala (bass and vocals), Marko Ajković (drums), and Tanja Novaković (vocals), later evolving into the recognizable lineup featuring Bojan and Romana Slačala, Marko Ajković, and guitarist Ivan Skopulovič.
Since releasing their first single “Džoni” in 2012, Artan Lili quickly emerged as one of the most notable new acts on the regional alternative music scene. Their sound is often described as a blend of noise pop, alternative rock, and post-punk, characterized by minimalist arrangements, repetitive rhythms, and strong live energy.
The band gained particular attention for its innovative release strategy, publishing songs individually online before compiling them into the debut album Artan Lili in 2015. Tracks such as “Najbolje što znam,” “Ako stanemo tu,” and “Sajko” became some of their best-known songs and helped establish their reputation across the region.
Their second album New Deal further developed the band’s recognizable sound, while later singles and collaborations demonstrated their openness to diverse musical approaches. Over the years, they collaborated with several prominent regional musicians, including Zoran Kostić Cane, Nikola Vranjković, and Zoran Marinković.
Artan Lili is also known as one of the most active live bands in the Balkans, performing extensively at clubs and festivals throughout the region. To celebrate ten years of activity, the band launched a regional tour titled “Deset godina teškog andergraunda” (“Ten Years of Heavy Underground”).
Today, Artan Lili is regarded as one of the leading representatives of the new regional alternative scene, successfully combining underground aesthetics with broader audience appeal and a modern approach to rock music.
