Flex is one of Vienna’s best-known nightclubs and is considered one of the most important clubs in Europe. It is located along the Danube Canal between Schottenring station and the Augartenbrücke bridge, in a former unused underground metro tunnel that the club moved into in 1995. Founded in 1990, Flex has become a symbol of Vienna’s alternative and electronic music scene. It is especially known for its high-quality sound system, which attracts both international and local artists. Over the years, the club has hosted a wide range of performers and DJs, spanning genres such as rock, indie, techno, dubstep, and drum and bass. In addition to its club nights, live concerts are a key part of its programme. During summer, the outdoor area along the Danube Canal becomes a popular social space where visitors gather and relax. Today, Flex remains a central venue in Vienna’s nightlife and alternative music culture.
