Zdravko Čolić was born on May 30, 1951, in Sarajevo. In his youth, he showed interests both in sports and the arts—initially playing as a goalkeeper for Željezničar’s youth team and training in athletics—but music gradually became his lifelong pursuit. He learned guitar, attended music school, and performed in local and school settings.
His career began in the late 1960s as a member of the band Ambasadori, followed by collaborations with various musicians and groups. He launched his solo career in 1972 at a song festival, performing a song that brought him widespread attention. In the following years, he gained massive popularity across the former Yugoslavia, thanks to emotional ballads, heartfelt melodies, and live performances that drew huge audiences.
Čolić has released numerous highly successful albums and singles; many of his songs have become iconic not only for their melodies but also for their lyrical content. The ballad “Ti si mi u krvi” remains one of the most recognizable and beloved songs in the region. Throughout his career, he has given many major concerts, and each return to the stage has been met with enthusiasm from fans.
In his private life, he has lived between Sarajevo and Belgrade at various times, is married, and has two children. Despite a long career spanning decades, Zdravko Čolić remains an artist of authenticity—a voice that is instantly recognizable, a style that remains distinct, and an ability to connect across generations through music that transcends fleeting trends.
