Tramhaus is a Dutch post-punk band from Rotterdam that has rapidly emerged as one of the most exciting new acts on the European alternative music scene. The group consists of Lukas Jansen (vocals), Nadya van Osnabrugge (guitar and backing vocals), Micha Zaat (guitar and backing vocals), Julia Vroegh (bass and backing vocals), and Jim Luijten (drums and backing vocals). Their sound combines elements of post-punk, punk rock, post-hardcore, shoegaze, and art rock, resulting in a powerful and emotionally charged musical identity.
Formed in Rotterdam in 2020, Tramhaus brought together musicians who were already active in various other projects. Shortly after their formation, the band released its first recordings and quickly gained attention through energetic live performances and a distinctive artistic approach. Their reputation grew rapidly across the Netherlands, where they became known for intense concerts that blended raw energy with emotional depth.
An important early milestone came with the release of the Rotterdam EP, which helped establish the band’s musical identity. Among its standout tracks was “Make It Happen,” a socially engaged song connected to developments in their hometown. Following several singles, EP releases, and extensive touring, Tramhaus released its debut album, The First Exit, in September 2024. The record received widespread critical acclaim, earning recognition from major Dutch media outlets and further strengthening the band’s growing international profile.
Live performance remains at the heart of the band’s success. Tramhaus has toured extensively throughout Europe, the United Kingdom, and Asia, building a dedicated audience far beyond the Netherlands. Their festival appearances include renowned events such as Primavera Sound, Sziget, Dour, Colours of Ostrava, Best Kept Secret, and SXSW. In 2024 alone, the band performed more than one hundred shows across more than twenty countries, demonstrating both their work ethic and rising popularity.
Widely praised for their explosive stage presence and strong chemistry as a group, Tramhaus has become one of the leading names in the new generation of European post-punk. Their music balances aggression and vulnerability, combining driving rhythms, sharp guitar work, and emotional storytelling into a sound that resonates with audiences across different countries and musical communities.
