Slaughter to Prevail is a Russian deathcore band formed in 2014 by vocalist Aleksandr “Alex Terrible” Shikolai and guitarist Jack Simmons. The project began after Simmons contacted Shikolai online, impressed by his extremely powerful vocal style.
The band first gained major attention with a cover of Acrania’s “As the Vultures Circle,” soon followed by the release of their debut EP Chapters of Misery in 2015. Their aggressive sound, technical riffing, and heavy breakdowns quickly attracted international attention within the deathcore scene.
In 2017, the band released its debut full-length album Misery Sermon, further establishing Slaughter to Prevail as one of the leading acts in modern deathcore. The album combined extreme metal intensity with groove-oriented elements and dark atmospheric passages, while Alex Terrible became widely recognized for one of the most distinctive vocal performances in the genre.
The band is also known for its strong visual identity, including signature masks and highly aggressive live performances. Their music videos and concerts emphasize the brutality and energy that define their artistic image.
Their second album Kostolom was released in 2021 and marked another major step forward for the band. Songs such as “Baba Yaga,” “Zavali Ebalo,” and “Demolisher” gained significant popularity among extreme metal audiences and expanded their global reach.
Although originally formed in Russia, the band has operated internationally over the years, with parts of its activity and production moving abroad. Slaughter to Prevail regularly performs at major metal festivals and tours across Europe and North America.
Their music blends deathcore with elements of nu metal, groove metal, and extreme death metal, creating a sound defined by massive production, aggression, and a modern approach to the genre.
Today, Slaughter to Prevail is regarded as one of the most prominent and influential bands of the new generation of deathcore.
