MIT HERZ UND VERSTANDT, Ballet Staatstheater Cottbus (Germany)
The ballet ensemble of Cottbus State Theatre brings temperament and Mediterranean passion to the stage with three
creations by Cayetano Soto and Mauro Bigonzetti.
CONRAZONCORAZON - Cayetano Soto
Inspired by the musicals of the 1920s and 1930s, and drawing almost entirely on music from Pedro Almodóvar’s films,
Conrazoncorazon is a powerful, physically demanding ensemble piece - funny, exuberant and fast-paced. The
title fuses the Spanish words „con razón” (with reason) and „corazón” (heart), reflecting the eternal battle between
impulse and logic, and the moments when the heart wins.

- Dramaturgy: Julia Spinola
- Stage manager: Mandy Krügel-Schwarzer
- Performed by the ballet ensemble of Cottbus State Theatre ( Ballet Staatstheater Cottbus)
SORTIJAS - Cayetano Soto
An impressive and emotional duet, born from a moment of despair, Sortijas (Rings) is in complete contrast to
Cayetano Soto's otherwise fast, acrobatic and borderline duets. Slow, intimate and fateful, the piece takes its name
from the diamond ring Soto’s grandmother used to admire, and explores the circular bonds that tie people together in
ways neither planned nor chosen.

CANTATA - Mauro Bigonzetti
Rooted in the traditional music of southern Italy, Cantata is an energetic and passionate exploration of the
interplay between man and woman, love and violence, sun and moon. Mauro Bigonzetti's choreography flows like a
sweeping, uninterrupted wave of pure movement bursting with sensuality, humor and drama. The fascinating ballet
ensemble of the Staatstheater Cottbus brings to the stage a rarely seen technical excellence imbued with a raw,
infectious energy that regularly brings the audience to its feet.

STRIP, Alfonso López Gonzales (Spain)
STRIP draws the line as a path, a direction, a trajectory. A strip traces a route that attracts, repels, absorbs,
or pushes away the bodies that encounter it. Through this path, performers meet, drift apart, confront, or orbit
one another. If the line, which symbolizes a socially defined path - disappears, what remains for those
who were supposed to follow it?
Alfonso López González is considered one of the most exciting new names on the international contemporary
dance scene! This incredible Spanish choreographer and dancer has won over audiences across Europe with his
distinctive style that combines superb technique, incredible physical strength and raw, magnetic sensitivity on
stage. His performances are not just dance, they are a powerful, dynamic experience that draws you into the
story from the first second and does not let go until the very end.
