━ A JOURNEY THROUGH TIME ━
Pula is a city with a rich past that we can feel at every step.
⎯ ROMAN PULA ⎯
More than two thousand years ago, the Romans built an important port in the area of today's Pula and left behind monumental buildings that still proudly tell their story today.
⎯ MIDDLE AGES ⎯
In the Middle Ages, Pula protected its strategic importance with fortifications on the top of a hill, where today the Castle, built in 1630 as a symbol of the defense of the city and its important port on the northern Adriatic, dominates.
⎯ PORT OF THE EMPIRE ⎯
During the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Pula developed from a small Istrian town into the main war port of the Monarchy and one of the most important industrial and maritime centers of the Adriatic.
⎯ MODERN PULA ⎯
Known for its Arena, cultural events, university and beautiful coastline, Pula is one of the most important urban centers of Istria and an attractive place to live, work and visit all year round.
