Rage Against the Machine – “Killing In The Name

Rage Against the Machine, in its original and only line-up of Zack De La Rocha, Tom Morello, Brad Wilk, and Tim Commerford, announced a reunion tour back in 2019, after an 11-year hiatus, which instantly became the most anticipated music event on the planet. After the delays caused by the pandemic, the official start of the tour is scheduled for July 9, when the first part of the North American tour will begin, ending in August with five concerts at New York’s Madison Square Garden. The band moves to the Old Continent during the summer and will arrive to Croatia on September 17th.

Rage Against the Machine was founded in 1991 in Los Angeles and made music history with its first single, one of the greatest anthems of rebellion in history, “Killing in the Name,” and the band’s historic first album. The incendiary mix created by Morell’s loud guitar parts, Wilk and Commerford’s heavy basslines and drumbeats, De la Rocha’s explosive vocals, and uncompromising political views combined hip hop and rock in an unprecedented way, raising a fist into the air and saying, “Fuck You, I Won’t Do What You Tell Me” to all whom it may concern. Concerts were a unique, often key aspect of RATM, ranking the band among the best live acts in history. Although relatively modest in terms of quantity, with only four studio albums, the band’s discography showed that they had a lot of fuel left in the tank after the global success of the first single, so they didn’t take long to create a best-of setlist for this tour, undoubtedly including hits such as “Bulls On Parade“, “Bombtrack“, “People Of The Sun“, “Guerilla Radio“, “Sleep Now In The Fire“, “Testify“, “Know Your Enemy“ and many others. RATM only appeared in this part of the world once, about 20 years ago, in Ljubljana’s Tivoli as part of the “Battle of Los Angeles” tour, while three of the band’s four members performed in 2017 at Šalata as Prophets of Rage.

Rage Against The Machine – “Sleep Now In The Fire“

Another huge musical act will be special guests at the Zagreb concert — the best hip-hop band of the past decade, the fantastic duo Run the Jewels. El-P and Killer Mike have released four highly acclaimed studio albums so far. Their debut “Run The Jewels,“ released in 2013, secured the duo a strong underground status, but it was the following year and the release of its successor “Run the Jewels 2” and the megahit “Close Your Eyes (And Count To Fuck)“, in collaboration with Zach de la Roche, that they became a planetary sensation. The band has collaborated and performed with many music greats such as Jack White, DJ Shadow, Lorde, and Travis Barker (Blink 182), while their music can be heard in many blockbuster movies and super-popular video games such as “Cyberpunk 2077” and “Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Run The Jewels will perform at most concerts on the “Public Service Announcement” tour, including the one at the Zagreb Arena on September 17, 2022.

The Rage Against the Machine concert in Zagreb is organized by Charm Music, Live Nation, and LAA.
