Soul Fingers is a Croatian soul and funk band from Zagreb, founded in 1991 by brothers Denis and Haris Ahmetašević. After being invited to perform at the legendary Kulušić club by DJ Tomo Ricov, they cheekily claimed they had a band—then set about forming one in just a few days with brass, drums, bass, keyboards, and backing vocalists. Their debut on February 17, 1991, marked the start of a remarkable musical journey.
Their early recordings include Live in B.P. Club (1993) and Very Live (1996), plus the EP No Fingers Like Soul Fingers. Over the years, the ensemble grew to about a dozen members, gaining renown for their electrifying live performances and flawless showmanship.
Performing alongside legends such as B.B. King, The Blues Brothers Band, Eddie Floyd, David Bowie, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, and Sia, Soul Fingers earned their place among the region’s top acts. Distinguished as one of the few regional bands invited to the Montreux Jazz Festival, they performed both in concert venues and along the lakeside promenade. Their presence has also graced film festivals in Venice, Sarajevo, and Dubrovnik, as well as the global art project Net around the Planet, initiated by Brian Eno and Peter Gabriel.
Their first original song, All I Wanna Do Is Dance, premiered during a New Year’s Eve show in Slovenia in 2012 and marked a significant artistic milestone for the band.
After more than 30 years, Soul Fingers remain a vibrant testament to soul music's joy and energy—a living legacy of showmanship and musical devotion.
