Siniša Vuco, born April 29, 1971 in Split, stands out as a distinctive artist blending seemingly contradictory musical genres. Influenced by former Yugoslav rock icons like Bijelo Dugme and Merlin, he skillfully infused pop-folk instruments—like accordion and tamburica—with rock and Roma musical elements.
His breakthrough came in the late 1990s with the album Volim piti i ljubiti, which established him as a new folk icon and earned him widespread recognition. Known for eccentric and often provocative performances, he later ventured into metal, forming bands like Živo blato, Klanje ljudi, and playing in the thrash metal act Evil Blood.
Vuco has also penned songs for many regional music stars such as Mišo Kovač, Kemal Monteno, and Marko Perković Thompson. After years away from recording, he announced his comeback with the song Dragi Bože, a hard rock–sevdah fusion duet with Halid Bešlić.
In June 2025, he made history by breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest sustained vocal note (59.5 seconds) in his song “Nek sam pijan”. The record was verified through meticulous technical conditions and months of analysis, and he accepted his award in London later that month.
Vuco is also politically active—elected in 2021 as president of Split’s HSS branch, with talk of a potential mayoral run for Split. A family man, he has four children, including talented singer Brigita and footballer Vilibald.
