Mozart Requiem:

In the early summer of 1791 Mozart was instructed by a „grey messenger“ to compose a requiem. This requiem was Mozart’s last composition and one of his most impressive and most famous works with lots of legends around it. In his deathbed he allegedly performed the “lacrimosa” together with friends. Parts of the requiem were performed at Mozart’s own funeral ceremony; the composition was completed by his student Franz Xaver Süßmayer from already existing drafts. The requiem also nowadays is very popular because of its mysterious story of origin as well as the importance of the composition: Unique music that stretches to eternity!

Orchestra 1756:

Mozart’s 250th birthday was used as an opportunity to found the Orchestra 1756 in 2006. The ensemble devotes itself to the interpretation of music between 1750 and 1800. The unique Mozart sound originates from intensive occupation with the stylistics of the 18th century, historic instruments and balanced formations of musicians. The chorus of the Salzburg Konzertgesellschaft demands responsibility and quality from every single member. Depending on the repertoire the chorus consists of 16 to 24 singers. They are chosen through annual auditions. Both Orchestra 1756 and Chorus are submitted to strict stylistic criteria.
